Abstract

1,207,789. Printing machines. HEIDELBERGER DRUCKMASCHINEN A.G. 13 June, 1969 [6 July, 1968], No. 30155/69. Heading B6C. [Also in Division B8] In a sheet-fed letterpress or offset rotary printing machine having one or more sheettransfer cylinders 11 for transferring a sheet from the feed table to the grippers of the impression cylinder 4 or from the impression cylinder 4 of one printing unit to the impression cylinder of the next printing unit, the sheet transfer cylinders 11 are provided with running rings 20, 21 in rolling contact under pressure with running rings 18, 19 on the associated cylinders. Vibration in the printing cylinders caused during the opening and closing movements of the grippers is thus prevented. The diameters of the rings on the various cylinders may increase slightly in the direction of the movement of the sheet to additionally counteract any tendency to vibration. Axially-adjustable rings 24 are provided on the transfer cylinder 11 to support the sheets. In an offset machine, the plate and offset cylinders may have the known contacting bearer rings.
