Abstract

927,366. Printing-machines. HARRIS-INTERTYPE CORPORATION. April 26, 1960 [April 29, 1959], No. 14557/60. Class 100 (2). In a multi-colour offset machine, the offset cylinder 17 is arranged on the side of a line joining the axes of the plate cylinder 25 and impression cylinder 16 from which grippers 15 on the cylinder 16 approach the cylinder 17 so as to improve access between adjacent printing couples. Sheets are fed by grippers 12 on a feed cylinder 11 to grippers 13 on a cylinder 14 and then to the grippers 15 on the impression cylinder 16. Sheets printed by the cylinder 17 are transferred by a cylinder 18 to further couples. The grippers on the last impression cylinder 16 transfer the printed sheet to grippers 19 on delivery chains 21. A platform 29 has a hinged section 28 to facilitate access between adjacent units.
