Rotary machines; offset machines.- A multicolour rotary printing-machine comprises a number of printing units, each comprising an impression cylinder and a printing-cylinder, which may be an offset cylinder, the units being arranged in vertical series and adapted to co-operate one with the other in such manner that the transfer of the sheets from one unit to the next is effected by the printing or offset cylinder. In the case of an offset machine, the sheet is fed to an impression cylinder a coacting with two offset cylinders b, d, and is transferred by grippers d<1> on cylinder d to grippers f<1> on an impression cylinder f which is out of printing contact with the cylinder d. The sheet is then printed by the offset cylinder g, and is transferred by grippers g<1> thereon to a delivery cylinder i. Tripping-arrangements.- The various printing units are provided with tripping devices each of which is actuated by the preceding tripping device. The cylinder b is mounted in eccentric bearings b<1> controlled by toggle levers l, l<1>. The lever l is on the shaft k<5> of a lever k<4> which is moved by a pawl k<1>, or k<2> on a cam-oscillated yoke k to throw the impressions on or off respectively, the pawls k<1>, k<2> being connected by a link k<3> and set by hand. When the cylinder b is tripped, rods m, n act to trip the cylinders d, f simultaneously, and a rod q operates tripping devices similar to k - - k<5> to trip the cylinder g.
