Abstract

545,362. Intaglio printing-machines. BEEVERS, A. Dec. 14, 1940, No. 17684. [Class 100 (ii)] Inking-apparatus.-The wiping band 2 of an intaglio printing machine is cleaned by means of a felt &c. band 3 having sliding contact with the band 2 as it passes round a large diameter drum 1, and passing through a bath 12 of ink solvent e.g. paraffin or naptha. The band 3 is driven by a roller 5 actuated by a chain 14a and sprocket 13 driven from the machine. The roller 8 over which the band 3 passes is adjustable to vary the pressure of the band on the band 2 and the amount of solvent carried by the band 3 is regulated by an adjustable roller 7. In a modification, the rollers 10, 11 which guide the band 3 through the solvent are mounted in separate baths.
