Abstract

532,461. Printing-machines. EMPIRE ALUMINIUM CO., Ltd. (Anders A. Pindstofte's Maskinfabrik Aktieselskabet). July 22, 1939, No. 21340. [Classes 100 (i) and 100 (ii)] A rotary machine for printing labels on ribbon or strip material such as aluminium or other metallic foil in ribbon or strip form, of the kind in which a series of printing-couples 5 prints multicolour impressions, is constructed with a strip-punching device 8, 9 for making guide-forming perforations in the ribbon for use in a subsequent operation consisting in stamping the labels from the strip. The cylinder 8 is driven in synchronism from the first printing- couple 5 by means of gears 13, 15, which are mounted so as to be adjustable angularly on their spindles, and an idler gear 14 which is mounted for bodily vertical adjustment to permit a fine variation of the timing of the punching device. The punch elements 10 co-operate with a rubber or like covering 11 on the roller 9, and are preferably arranged to form U-shaped incisions in the strip and not to punch pieces from the strip.
