Abstract

1301727 Folding apparatus E A TIMSON 5 Aug 1971 [6 Aug 1970 2 July 1971] 37901/70 and 31004/71 Heading B8R A web-fed rotary printing machine comprises a printing unit PS1, a series of ancillary units 10, 12 and 14 and a folding unit 17. The arrangement of ancillary units is such that the web passes from the unit PS1 to the folder in a shallow curved path as shown, and then passes downwardly through the folder. Preferably, the printing cylinder 6 is an offset cylinder. A further printing unit PS2 may be provided for numbering. The units 10 and 11 may be punches and the unit 14 may be a longitudinal slitter and cross-perforator. The folder may be a zigzag folder.
