Abstract

825,106. Driving textile spindles. WURTTEMBERGISCHE SPINDELFABRIK G.m.b.H. June 4, 1957 [June 16, 1956], No. 17727/57. Class 120(2) In a multiple spindle drive a single drive shaft is provided between two adjacent rows of spindles and is adapted to drive each spindle in said two rows by a separate endless belt, the spindles at one side of the drive shaft being driven by the tight flights of some of the belts whose slack flights are acted upon by tensioning means, and the spindles at the other side of the shaft by the slack flights of the other belts, whose tight flights are acted upon by tensioning means. As shown the belt driving the spindle 8<SP>1</SP> passes over an idler 6<SP>1</SP> and around a spring urged tension pulley 5' and contacts a pulley 4<SP>1</SP> on a driving shaft 1. At least one of the pulleys 5, 5' is preferably adjustable, for example by a slidable bolt 9, or the belts may be of differing thickness so that the torque on both rows of spindles is the same. In a modification the springs of the tension rollers are attached to arms pivotable on a shaft either in adjacent pairs or along the whole length of the machine.
