Abstract

Rollers and roller heads.-A machine for drawing fibrous materials comprises feeding rollers 11, 20 drawing rollers 12, 24 and a conveyer band 15 extending for substantially the whole distance between the feeding and drawing rollers, the said band forming a depending loop and being tensioned by a jockey weight 27, Fig. 6. Intermediate rollers 21 - - 23 are provided, and are each mounted, as are the rollers 20, 24, in blocks 25 adjustable on bars 19. The frame 40, Fig. 6, is arranged to provide guiding-faces 41, 42 for the spindles 28, 31 of the jockey pulley 27 and a clearer roller 32 respectively, the weight of the said clearer serving to maintain it in contact with the band 15, for which guards 43, 44 are provided. In a modification, the spindles of the weight 27 and clearer 32 are guided in a fork in the machine frame. A supporting-plate 14 and guiding-roller 13, Fig. 1, are provided for the band 15, but a plate 38 having a rounded end 39, Fig. 6, may be substituted therefor or the band may be left free or supported by rollers. The band 15 is driven by friction, or, if desired, positively from the roller 11.
