Abstract

422,405. Projectile fuzes. SOC. ANON. ARTURO JUNGHANS FABBRICA D'OROLOGERIA, Gindecca, Venice, Italy. July 17, 1934, No. 20904. Convention date, Nov. 24, 1933. [Class 9 (i)] In combined clockwork and directimpact percussion fuzes, the directaction percussion bolt c is arranged to release the spring striker of the clockwork fuze independently of the clockwork. As shown, the clockwork fuze comprises in known manner a spindle d provided with an arm e adapted to bear on the rim of the timing disc a and adapted, when the arm falls in a notch in the timing disc at the appointed time, to release a lever f, which in turn releases the spring striker (not shown). Now, the lower end of the spindle d is mounted in a plate g which is normally held in place by a spring hook h. When the bolt c is driven in by direct impact, its inner pointed end bears on a conical piece h<2> on the spring hook and deflects this hook away from the plate g, whereupon centrifugal force causes the spindle d to move outwards and release the lever f.
