Abstract
219,944. Tavannes Watch Co. Soc. Anon. Jan. 23, 1924, [Convention date]. Projectile fuzes.-Clockwork fuzes are provided with a rotatable internallytoothed crown member adapted to be set in accordance with the time desired, in combination with a reducing gear for driving the member from the driving shaft of the clockwork. The detent 4 of the spring striker 1 is held before the projectile is discharged by means of a bolt 9 which sets back by inertia at the moment of discharge. The detent is held during the flight of the projectile by the crown member 11 which at the appointed time brings a notch 23 opposite the end 24 of the detent, whereupon the detent releases the striker by swinging out about its pivot 6 under the influence of centrifugal force and a spring 7 acting on a pin 8 on the detent. The crown member 11 is guided between rollers 15, 16, and is provided internally with a circle of teeth 17 in mesh with a pinion 18 connected by pinions 20, 21 to the driving shaft 22. The bolt 9 in conjunction with a stop 26 on the crown member serves also to prevent this ring from completing before the projectile is discharged the forward movement necessary to release the detent. The detent, instead of releasing the striker directly, may release a sleeve which in turn releases balls normally holding the striker. Specification 234,513 is referred to.
