Abstract
402,969. Projectile fuzes. SCHNEIDER ET CIE, 42, Rue d' Anjou, Paris. March 6, 1933, No. 6761. Convention date, Dec. 20, 1932. [Class 9 (i).] Relates to percussion fuzes comprising a direct-action striker b and a fixed or momentum percussion cap holder d<1> separated by a safety device such as centrifugal segments e, which move out during flight, the direct-action striker being moreover held by a pin c until impact. According to the invention, a gap x is left between the safety device e and a shoulder b<1> of the striker b, so that on discharge while the safety device e is still in position the striker b sets back sufficiently to begin the shearing of the pin c. This weakens the pin and makes the fuze more sensitive on impact. This improvement may be applied to the percussion fuzes described in Specifications 280,859 and 315,852, [both in Class 9 (i), Ammunition &c.].
