Alloys.-Iron alloys are made by subjecting a powdered mixture of iron or iron oxide or both prepared from iron carbonyl with alloying constituents which are wholly or partly in the form of oxides or other reducible compounds to heattreatment under reducing conditions, for example in hydrogen, preferably at about 800-1000‹ C., pressure being applied before, during, or after the heat-treatment. Alloys of iron with chromium, tungsten, manganese, and silicon are referred to. Specifications 258,313 and 269,677, [both in Class 72, Iron &c.], are referred to.
