Abstract
313,471. Hadfield, Sir R. A. March 10, 1928. Alloys. - An alloy comprises iron, carbon, copper, tungsten or molybdenum, 5-30 per cent of chromium, and from 2 to less than 20 per cent of nickel, the chromium and nickel together being 18-32 per cent. The alloy may contain 0.05-1 per cent of carbon, 1-10 per cent of tungsten, and 0.2-5 per cent of copper, with or without 0.05-4 per cent of silicon and 0.1-4 per cent of manganese; 0.5-6 per cent of one or more other elements such as cobalt, vanadium, titanium, and aluminium, may also be present. According to the Provisional Specification, the nickel may extend to 22 per cent.
