Abstract
Cast-iron articles are made by casting them from an iron alloy containing 15-40 per cent of chromium, 0,7-2,6 per cent of carbon, and 0,4-3 per cent of silicon, with or without 1-2 per cent of other metals such as cobalt, tungsten, molybdenum, and copper, and with or without nickel, and then polishing the parts of the surface which are to be completely stainless; or they may be made from an iron alloy containing 20-40 per cent of chromium, 0,1-2,3 per cent of carbon, and 0,4-3 per cent of silicon, and the step of polishing dispensed with. If nickel is present, the nickel and chromium together may amount to about 40-50 per cent. Specification 267,687, [Class 82 (i), Metals, Extracting &c.], is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 143,829, 222,158, 254,762, 259,920, 272,474, 290,924, [all in Class 82 (i), Metals, Extracting &c.], 342,295, and 344,399.
