Abstract

223,626. Hyde, A. C., and Turner, W. L. June 21, 1923. Alloys.-Carbon-free or practically carbon free iron-manganese alloys containing manganese in any proportion from 1 per cent upwards, with or without other metals, are made by using iron oxide and manganese oxide, either by reducing a mixture of the oxides by the thermo-aluminic process, or by first reducing the manganese oxide by the thermo-aluminic process, mixing the product with iron oxide, and subjecting such mixture to the thermo-aluminic process.
