Abstract

272,836. White, J. C., and Dickinson, H. A. Dec. 14, 1925. Electric radiators. - An imitation fire comprises, in combination, a casing, a source of light, and one or more imperforate sheets of translucent glass having an irregular surface in spaced relationship with one or more further sheets of similar glass, the light passing through the spaced sheets in succession in order to obtain an irregular flickering effect. The fire shown comprises electric radiants 2, 3, behind which is a plain glass sheet 4 and broken glass 5 held in place by wire mesh work 6. A removable casing 8 contains a lamp 9 with reflector 10, and a flicker device comprising a fan 11 carrying a cylindrical perforated shroud 12. Light from the lamp passes through irregularly-surfaced sheets of glass 13 closing the front portion of the casing, and then through similar sheets 7 at the top of the fire. The latter sheets may be covered with broken glass 5. Specification 272,365 is referred to.
