Abstract

272,362. White, J. C., and Dickinson, H. A. Dec. 14, 1925. Electric radiators.-An imitation fire comprises in combination a casing, a source of light, a sheet or pieces of translucent glass having an irregular surface, and a perforated screen of metal or glass arranged between the first-mentioned sheet and the source of light. In Fig. 1 the casing is fitted with heating elements 2, 3, perforated pieces of translucent glass 6, 13, 14 having an irregular surface, imitation coal or lumps of glass 18 supported by wire mesh 17, an adjustable lamp 4 and a fan 7 having co-operating magnets 11, 12 and mounted on a hinged door 9, and a reflector 5. An adjustable shutter 20 co-operates with holes 19 in the casing to control the fan speed. The fan blades may be corrugated or perforated. In Fig. 7 the casing 45 is fitted with an irregularly surfaced translucent glass 53 the lamp being fitted with a reflector and surrounded by an irregularly perforated screen 49 rotated by a fan 48. A device may be provided for starting the fan. Specification 272,836 is referred to.
