Imitation fires.-In an imitation fire having a flicker device 3 operated by an uprising hot-air current, a hole 11 in the casing is provided with a valve 12 which controls both the volume and direction of the entering air, the valve shown being of the butterfly type. In a modification, the valve is arranged in the bottom of the casing between two lamps each provided with a flicker fan, either or both of which may be caused to rotate, or be stopped by adjusting the valve. in another construction a valve hinged at the top edge is provided in the back of the casing, and is adjusted by a lever one arm of which contacts with a roller pivoted at the lower end of the valve. The stove shown comprises inner and outer sheets of glass 7, 8, having one or both surfaces irregular, the imitation fuel 9 being carried by the sheets 8. The fan 3, which may carry an irregularly perforated shroud 6, is pivoted on a bracket 4 which may be integral with a reflector. Electric heating-elements 10 may be carried on the front of the fire.
