Abstract

622,417. Heating air. COLMER, A. March 21, 1947, No. 7767. [Class 64(iii)] An air heater unit adapted to be mounted in a domestic fireplace 1, comprises a double-walled sheet steel back 6 and base 5 through which air is sucked by a fan mounted in the upper part 15 of the unit. The back 6 is divided into two branches which enclose an opening through which smoke from a fire-grate 8 escapes into the chimney 2. The upper part 15 of the unit projects into the room in front of the chimney and comprises a casing provided with shutters movable by a knob 17. A pipe 21 terminates within the casing and receives air from the fan when the shutters are closed so that a forced draught is thereby supplied to the fire.
