[Class 64(iii)] A portable self-contained air heating stove unit which may be used in conjunction with a normal open fireplace or in any position where a flue is available comprises an open fronted box-like structure provided with an internal grate and a rearwardly disposed fume outlet and having hollow top, side, and back walls, which collectively define the air heating chamber and which are at least in part exposed to the surrounding air to heat it by conduction. The outer casing and inner shell F and I respectively; define a cavity P into which air is admitted at R and after heating escapes through openings S. The inner shell accommodates a refractory fire-back K and has an outlet pipe L to carry fumes from solid fuel burnt on grate M. The stove may have handles for carrying it from room to room, and doors enable it to be carried with a fire in the grate. A separate damper-controlled flue extending through chamber P from the back of the ashpit and terminating adjacent to fume outlet L may be included to provide a down-draught through the fire.
