Abstract
493,943. Heating air. BATT, C., and BATT, E. W. March 16, 1937, Nos. 7705/37 and 11143/38. [Class 64 (i)] In a gas or oil fired incan descent stove, an air-heat ing chamber f through which the products of com bustion from the radiants d pass to the chimney b is so set back from the front of the stove surround that air can flow around the sides, front and top of the chamber but not along the back. The chamber is made of corrugated sheet metal and is provided with one or more baffles g which may be formed with fins Air flows upwards along the sides and rear of the firebricks c at the back of the radiants, then around the chamber f and enters the room through aperture: a<2> at the front of the stove casing. Auxiliary burners k at the sides of the main burner heat the sides of the casing and assist the heating of the air. The products from the auxiliary burners may be conducted into the air-heating chamber.
