334,795. Mortreux, A. Nov. 23, 1929. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Air-heating furnaces.-In an air-heater hot gases from a fire-box 10, containing oil or gas burners, follow a zig-zag path through successive rows of gilled metallic tubes 1 held between two header plates 2, 3 in an open-ended metal casing having frustum-shaped chambers 6, 9 through which air is forced by a fan 4. A cowl 14 and flue 10<a> connect the rows of tubes. The fire-box has one or more arch-shaped refractory plates 3a below the plate 3, the holes in the two plates being staggered. The plates may be lined with a conductive plate. To increase the draught air is diverted through a small pipe 16 into the chimney. This pipe and also the chimney may each have a valve.
