Abstract

Air, attemperating.-Air heating tubes are arranged in a chamber through which pass the flue gases from a domestic stove burning coal, gas, or other fuel, or in conjunction with an electric radiator. In the form shown in Fig. 1, an open fire-grate 1 is provided with a back 2 behind which is a chamber 3 containing air-tubes 4 to which air from the room passes through side gratings 5, issuing after heating at the top of the stove. The tubes are cleaned by a scraper 7 operated by a handle 8; means, such as a removable tray 10, Fig. 3, may be provided for collecting the soot. In the stove shown in Fig. 3, the air-tubes are arranged in a room adjoining that directly heated by the fire. Fig. 4 shows an incandescent gas fire in which air passages 15 are provided in the fire brick back, in addition to or in place of the tubes 4. Similar passages may be formed in the sides of an open fire-place. The air heated in the stove may be supplied from outside through a ventilating brick &c., and may be delivered to the room from a coping above the fire-place or from behind a cornice, picture-rail, &c. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 833/73, 2104/74, 3915/77, 12756/97, 654/09 and 125,854, [all in Class 126, Stoves &c.].
