Abstract
1,262,098. Gas-fire. PARKINSON COWAN Ltd. 2 Oct., 1970 [2 July, 1969], No. 33406/69. Heading F4T. A gas fire for domestic use includes an aerated gas burner which comprises an inclined mixing tube 3 with gas injector 5 at one end and T- shaped sheet metal burner head 4 at the other end situated beneath a radiant 2, a sheet metal baffle 6 or wall, through which the mixing tube passes, being provided to shield the injector from draughts to which the burner head is exposed and thus prevent unburnt gas from being ejected from the air openings 13. The baffle 6 forms a box with heater casing 1 to almost totally enclose the injector, and where several burners are positioned together as in a convector gas fire, one common baffle may extend to enclose each injector or each burner may have a separate baffle. Each injector 5, with inlet 11 and outlet 12, is formed as a bolt extending through an aperture 8 in a saddle bracket 7 connected to the baffle 6 and is secured by a nut 9 within mixing tube 3, a front grille 16 admitting primary air to the injectors below baffle 6 and admitting secondary air to pass above the baffle to the burner head and behind radiants 2 to a heat exchanger.
