Abstract

1,196,516. Solid fuel-fired hot water boiler; air-heating stoves. J. NEILSON. 19 June, 1969 [21 March, 1968], No. 13688/68. Headings F4S and F4W. A solid fuel-fired boiler stove, for installation in a fireplace opening, comprises a firebox 20 with a door 25A, a hopper 13 at the front and communicating with the fire-box through a shoot 24, 24A, a flue 22 connected to the rear of the fire-box 20 and a water space 38 surrounding the flue 22 and at least part of the fire-box. Auxiliary flues 23 lead from the front part of the fire-box to the main flue, and an inlet rose 41 and a perforated U-tube 42 with closed ends supply primary and secondary air to the fuel. The stove is formed of a casing unit and a firebox unit, including the flues, which is spaced from the casing to form the water spaces. In a modification, an air heating space is arranged between the fire-box and the hopper, and supplied with air from open-bottomed side chambers. The heated air is delivered at the front of the stove. The boiler may be connected in a central heating system.
