Abstract

619,862. Air heating stoves. AIR HEATING, Ltd., and BIGGART, R. J. C. Jan. 12, 1946, No. 1157. [Class 64(i)] In an air-heating unit in which air to be supplied to a trunk system for distribution through a building is forced by a fan 22 into a jacket 19 enclosing an inner housing 9 in which heating gases are generated and passes through a heat exchanger of which the inner component 26 is connected to and receives the hot gases from the inner housing 9 and the outer component 25 is connected to the jacket 19, the heat exchanger is at the top of the inner housing 9 and comprises upwardly extending flues 26 leading directly to the chimney and an outer casing 25 which leads from the top of the jacket 19 and delivers the heated air. The fan may be arranged, as shown, in a chamber 21 at the bottom of the stove, a steel wool filter 24 being provided. The flue 30 contains a pivoted damper which may be operated by a bimetallic bar adjustably anchored at its lower end in the duct. The pivot of the damper has an external point which may also be used as a lever for manual adjustment of the damper.
