Abstract

742,353. Heating air. LOVE, R. W. G. Dec. 29, 1953, No. 36042/53. Class 64(3). An open fireplace, mounted in a casing 18 forming an airheating cavity at the back, sides and top of the fireplace, with an air inlet at the bottom and an air outlet at the top, has a flue or flues 10 extending from a flue opening or openings, a baffle plate 11 extending forwardly and upwardly from its back 6, and a damper plate 12 hinged to to a front panel 8 and having its inner edge below the front edge of the baffle plate 11. The damper is adjustable by a screw 13. Reinforcing ribs are provided above the fireplace top 7. The plates 11, 12 are as wide as the fireplace, or the plate 11 may be less wide so as to leave a gap at each end for hot gases. Ledges 9 are provided to support a grate.
