Abstract
1,141,177. Removing waste products in industrial processes. TURNER & BROWN Ltd. 10 Aug., 1967 [20 Aug., 1966],No. 37409/66. Heading F4X. A fume cabinet has a slidable counterweighted door a for closing the front of the cabinet, and adjustable louvres a<SP>1</SP> are located above the door when the latter is in the closed position. Within the cabinet is disposed a baffle having an upright portion B and an inclined upper portion b spaced from a ceiling a<SP>3</SP> and providing an outlet controlled by an adjustable damper b<SP>1</SP>. Adjustable louvres b<SP>3</SP> are provided in a lowlevel slot 5<SP>2</SP> in the upright portion B of the baffle. In use, air is drawn into the louvres a<SP>1</SP> and mixes with fumes which escape over the upper edge of the baffle portion b leading through ceiling aperture a<SP>4</SP> to a chimney a<SP>6</SP>. The draught also induces a flow of fumes mainly of the heavier gases in the cabinet, through the louvred slot b<SP>2</SP> whence they pass upwardly behind the baffle portion B to the chimney.
