Class 126 An open fireplace having a boiler flue as well as a chimney front passage is provided with a damper assembly comprising a support unit which fits the chimney mouth and forms a passage through the support unit into the chimney front, a base plate formed with a walled opening serving as an outlet from the boiler flue, the front and side walls of the walled opening having upper closure faces, and a loose-pivoted damper which when raised restricts the passage through the support unit and when lowered is seated on the said faces so as to close the boiler flue outlet. An open fireplace is provided with a water boiler 8 and a boiler flue 12 and a front passage 14 which open into the chimney 15. The chimney mouth is provided with a support unit 20 having side wings 22 which rest upon the fireplace sides, a walled opening 24 Fig. 2, forming a continuation with the boiler flue 12 and an opening for the chimney-front passage 14. A unit comprising a damper 16 connected by sides 18 to a baffle 17 may be pivoted in snugs 19 on the support unit 20 in order to either close the boiler flue opening 24 or to restrict the chimney-front passage 14.
