Abstract

266,104. Buckeldee, H. R. Jan. 18, 1926. Ventilators; walves and valve apparatus.-A ventilating device for fitting in the walls of buildings or in chimney flues comprises a fan 6 adapted to be rotated by the flow of air past its vanes, and a number of radially hinged flaps or doors 5, of sectional shape, arranged to co-operate with a number of similarly shaped apertures in order to regulate the flow of air through the apertures and therefore the speed of the fan. The apertures are arranged in the front 3 of a tubular casing 1, and the flaps 5 are hinged to portions 4 of the said front. The fan 6 is mounted upon an axle 8 secured at one end to the plate 3 and at the opposite end to a portion 10 of the casing. A cam disc 11 having a number of cam surfaces 12, 13 corresponding to the number of flaps, as shown in Fig. 3, is rotatably mounted on the axle 8 so that the surfaces 12, 13 engage respectively with the front and rear surfaces of the portions 5<a>. of the flaps. The disc 11 is adapted to be operated by cords, wires, &c., movement of the disc in one direction being arranged to open the flaps, and movement in the other direction to close them.
