Abstract
506,443. Ventilators. AXIA FANS, Ltd., and WYLIE, T. Feb. 3, 1938, No. 3446. [Class 137] An air-directing louvre positioned on a ventilating shaft comprises a fixed carrier 11, a boss 12 rotatable about its axis, and a curved outlet nozzle 13 extending through the boss and slidable axially into and out of an enclosure to which the air is delivered. The nozzle has stop flanges 17, 18 to limit its movement through the boss 12 which may be made of felt, and rotates in an annulus 16 when the nozzle is rotated.. Sliding shutters 19, 20 control the opening 25 when the nozzle is fully extended. The direction of the air is varied by axial rotation of the nozzle when extended. In a modification, the nozzle is connected to the boss by a hinge at the axis of curvature of the nozzle.
