Abstract
316,779. Stewart, A. W. Aug. 10, 1928. Valves and valve apparatus; ventilators. - Ventilating- apparatus comprises a louvre 3 fitted to, or in communication with, an air trunk 1 and a baffle extending substantially parallel to the louvre outlet for dividing the air into two streams flowing to the louvre, and the direction of flow of at least one of the streams is reversed so that the two streams flow towards each other in the space between the louvre outlet and the baffle. The louvre may be - constituted by the front wall of a. box 2 applied to the air trunk 1 so that the air enters at one end or centrally of the box. The baffle may be in the form of (1) a longitudinal plate 4, Fig. 2, spaced from the ends of the box and having an air-guiding flap 7 at one end operable by a screw 8, (2) a pair of pivoted members 11, Fig. 4, operable by screws 8, or (3) a bent division plate 12, Fig. 6, midway of which is pivoted an air-guiding flap 14 operable by a screw 8. The box 2 may be mounted interiorly of the trunk 15, as shown in Fig. 7.
