Abstract

320,555. Berry, H. H. Nov. 23, 1928. Electric radiators.- In a fire comprising a heating element 9 and imitation fuel 6 illuminated by one or more lamps with or without flicker-producing devices 7, the element and the fuel being arranged at different levels, a solid or openwork panel 13 is arranged on the front of the fire between the levels of the fuel and the element. The panel forms part of a front plate having slots engaging studs 4 in the back 1 and detachably secured thereto by a screw 5. The front carries a grid 8 covering the heating elements and a grate for the fuel. The fuel is fitted so that it cannot be removed until the front is detached from the back. The back carries reflectors 12, 14, a shelf 1a for the lamps, a screen 15 with a matt finish, and a screen 16 of coloured glass. Openings may be arranged below the lamps to allow light to pass through on to the floor in front of the fire. The back is hollow to form an air passage from behind the fuel to the upper part. Outlets for the air may be provided at the back. The reflector 14 may be perforated. The heating elements 9 are mounted on a plate 10 spaced from the back. The positions of the fuel and heating element may be reversed. The top of the casing may be flat to enable it to support vessels to be heated.
