Abstract

372,540. Imitation fires. BERRY, H. H., 85, Newman Street, London. April 23, 1931, No. 12115. Addition to 323,190, [Class 126, Stoves &c.]. [Class 126.] The screen or shell 2 which, in the invention described in the parent Specification, shields a lamp 3 for illuminating the surfaces of imitation fuel 5 placed behind it, is made wholly or partly translucent and treated to imitate glowing fuel when the lamp is alight. The stove shown comprises two hollow translucent shells 2 side by side, each screening a lamp 3, which may be coloured and is provided with a flicker device. The shells may have small irregular openings to represent sparks. The surfaces of the bodies 5 which are illuminated by the lamps 3 are treated to represent glowing fuel. A heating element 7 and reflector 8 are arranged below the canopy, the heat being in part reflected from curved polished surfaces 10 formed on the bodies 5. Vertical or other strips of material, such as figured glass or wires, may be arranged between the lamps 3 and the fuel bodies 5 to break up the flicker effect ; they may be rigidly or loosely suspended from the inner edges of the shells 2.
