Abstract

414,280. Imitation fires. SIMPLEX ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 159, Gt. Charles Street, DAVIS, P. W., 132, Harborne Road, Warley Woods, and HUNT, J. J. H., Elton, Mill Lane, Dorridge, all in Birmingham. Dec. 13, 1933, No. 35048. [Class 126.] In an imitation fire with electric heating elements and provided with a light source E surrounded by a rotating screen or casing C with apertures or windows c<3>. through which light passes to an intercepting screen f with apertures or windows or of varying tint, and thence to a final screen G or to imitation fuel, the axis of rotation of the casing E is approximately horizontal, so as to give an effect of upwardly moving flames on the screen G. The casing C and screen f may each be of sheet metal or of translucent material partly coated with black paint or other opaque material. The apertures or windows c<3> in the casing C may be shaped as slots, or as shown in Fig. 6, and the aperture in the screen f may be of flame-like form. The casing C and screen f may be of material of varying transparency or translucency, or of varying tints. Reflectors H, J, which may be crinkled, throw light onto the screen G and imitation fuel B respectively. Two adjacent reflectors form the V-shaped reflector J. An additional light source K may be provided. The final screen, instead of being arranged as shown to transmit light, may be so placed that the surface on which the light is projected is viewed directly. The casing C is driven by a shaded-pole eddy-current electric motor.
