Abstract
227,739. Jensen, C. A., (Buckeye Steel Castings Co.). July 28, 1924. Couplings, automatic, convertible to non-automatic.-A coupling device comprising a pulling block adapted to be disposed between and engage the pivoted knuckle of an automatic coupler has a recessed seat provided in the rear face, and intermediate the ends of the pulling block, the seat being positioned to receive the chain of a link coupling. The block 7 is provided with a projection 11 which enters the gap in the free end of the knuckle 3 and two projections 13 at rightangles to the projection 11 which bear against the rear face of the knuckle, the opposite end 15 of the block entering a recess 16 in the guard arm 5 of the coupling. The rear face of the block 7 is provided with a recess 17 to accommodate the link 8 of the chain coupling. In order to prevent the separation of the chain 8 and pulling block a flange 23 is formed on the latter. A chain connects the pulling block and coupler head and a hook 21 is provided on the vehicle on which the chain coupling is suspended when out-of-use.
