Abstract
184,059. Gladow, M., Weihe, A., and Paysen, R. Aug. 8, 1921. No Patent granted (Sealing fee not paid). Couplings, automatic; combined buffer and draw-gear.-In an automatic coupling of tha central buffing type two tapering recesses 3, 7 are provided in the head. In the recess 3 is pivoted at 4 a bar 2 having a wedge shaped point and provided with a recess 10 for engaging a projection under the head of the spring-operated locking-bolt 8 in the opposing coupler. In the recess 7 and opposite the bolt 8 is arranged a spring controlled flap 11 pivoted at 12 to the coupling head and retained in position by a spring 16 mounted between the flap 11 and a bridge-piece 17 integral with the coupling-head. A spring controlled locking-bolt 14 operated from the side of the vehicle bv a rack and chain connected to the lever 18 maintains the bar 2 in locked engagement with the bolt 8. On coupling, the flap 11 being locked by the bolt 14, the bar 2 of the opposing coupler rides up the recess 7 and engages under the projection under the head of the bolt 8 which lifts and allows the head of the bar 2 to pass under it so as to permit the projection to fall into engagement with the recess 10. In uncoupling, the lever 18 is operated from the side of the vehicle so as to withdraw the bolt 14 from its recess 15 thereby enabling the coupling-bar 2 to be withdrawn.
