Couplings, automatic.-In order to connect automatically a coupling or the type in which a pivoted detent engages a hook-shaped coupling. bar, such as is described in Specification 12419/08, to a coupling of the Janney type, the couplerhead g of the former coupling is provided with a draw-bar m having a depending hook portion o which is adapted to strike the tail-piece e of the knuckle of the Janney coupling! a and to engage the hook portion d. The draw-bar m is pivoted at v so that it can either be held in the in-use position shown in Fig. 2 by means of a pivoted catch r ready for connexion to a Janney coupling, or be swung aside to an out-of-use position when two similar coupler-heads g are to be connected. A lateral projection p also is formed in the drawbar.
