Abstract
259,742. Marks, E. C. R.., (American Steel Foundries). Sept. 21, 1925. Couplings, automatic, convertible to non-automatic.-A lever 21 which comprises a leg 25 has a projection 26 adapted to engage and to be locked behind a coupler knuckle 14 and a face 32 on a projection 30 for engaging a face 33 on the coupler head 13 to resist movement of the lever, both faces being substantially parallel to the draft axis of the coupler. The lever is pivoted on a pin 23 carried by lugs 24 on the underside of the head and is swung up and gripped by the pivoted knuckle 14 and by the face 33 of a recess 31 in the coupler head. A link 18 of a chain coupling is secured to the lever by a pin 27 and the chain coupling, in its out of use position, is hung on a hook from the vehicle.
