Abstract

801,161. Vehicle couplings. NATIONAL MALLEABLE & STEEL CASTINGS CO. Aug. 9, 1956 [Aug. 16, 1955], No. 24459/56. Class 103(5): A rigid jawed type coupler is provided with a lock-operating level 26 pivoted at 28 and operated by a chain 34 from the usual uncoupling rod 42. When the rod is in the position B an integral extension 36b of the top link 36 engages under an abutment surface 62 to maintain the lock out of locking position for shunting purposes whilst it is released for normal coupling operations by moving the rod to the position C and then to position A.
