Class 103(5) A rigid-jawed coupler is provided with a spring-urged lock 30 which may be withdrawn by the lock-operating lever 38 and a lockset member 58 which may be contacted by the buffiing face 18 of an opposing coupler so that a projection 59 on the lock-set member engages an extension 41 of the lock-operating lever 38 thus holding the lock 30 out of locking engagement with the opposing coupler. When mated couplers with their locks in the lock-set position are separated the lock-set member 58 is urged forwardly by the lock spring 36 acting on the lever 38 and its extension 41 thus tilting the lock-set member 58, Fig. 8, due to the action of the inclined surfaces 62, 64 until the extension 41 rides under the locking projection 59 thereby allowing the lock 30 to move forwardly to locking position. A projection 68 on the lock-set member 58 extends through the coupling wall so that themember 58 may be. lifted manually to effect locking of the couplers.
