Abstract

725,316. Vehicle couplings. NATIONAL MALLEABLE & STEEL CASTINGS CO. Feb. 20, 1953, No. 4783/53. Class 103 (5). To prevent excessive lifting force being applied to a lightly loaded car coupled to a heavily loaded one through the couplings under severe buffing shocks, the angle of inclination of the coupler shank 16 is reduced by lugs 50 which engage under the transverse member 43 of the striking casting when the gear is fully buffed.
