Abstract

1,091,983. Railway vehicle draft gear. STANDARD CAR TRUCK CO. Nov. 10, 1964 [May 27, 1964], No. 45818/64. Heading B7T. A railway vehicle draft gear comprises a yoke, Figs. 7, 8, having a rearwardly extending lug 30 and vertical straps 31, slots 37 in the straps to receive a draft key, a horizontal floor 34 and a horizontal top wall 39. The lug 30 is supported and guided in a sleeve 6, Figs. 1, 2, and a cradle 24 slidable on a wear plate 18 carries an hydraulic draft cushion 27 and a follower 26 (see also Fig. 4, not shown). The follower 28 also movable on the wear plate 18 receives the forward end of the cushion, and the coupler shank 40 has a wear plate 43 engaged by a spring-pressed plate 44. A compression member 47 applies buffing loads also to the other end of the vehicle until the yoke base 32 engages the lug 23, but when this position is reached the cushion 27 may be further compressed.
