Abstract

687,445. Vehicle couplings. AMERICAN STEEL FOUNDRIES. April 17, 1951 [May 4, 1950], No. 8974/51. Class 103 (v). A Janney-type coupling has a knuckle tail 7 retained in the locked position by a lock 13 which can be raised by an operating lever 16 to which it is connected by a link 19 forming a lost-motion connection. A lever 41 pivoted at 42 engages the upper surface of the lock 13 and one side of the knuckle-tail 7 to form a knuckle-thrower.
