Abstract

230,556. Jensen, C. A., (Buckeye Steel Castings Co.). Dec. 17, 1923. Couplings, automatic, convertible to non-automatic.-An automatic coupler 1 of the pivoted knuckle type is provided at each side of its head with a pair of shackles 6, 7 pivotally connected together at 8, the shackles 7 being pivoted to and disposed on opposite sides of the coupling head, and the other shackles 6 being connected by a link 4 adapted to engage a hook 5 of a link-hook coupling. Each shackle 7 may be permanently connected to a slot in a lug .2 projecting from the opposite sides of the coupler head, or one shackle 7 may take over a projection 3, the flanged end of which is shaped to permit the slot in the shackle passing over it in one position only.
