Abstract

217,849. Jensen, C. A., (Buckeye Steel Castings Co.). Dec. 17, 1923. Couplings, automatic, convertible to non-automatic.-A coupling device comprises a chain carried by a bar which is engaged in and supported by and between the knuckle and guard arm of an automatic coupler head. The bar 4 carries a chain 9 and is housed at one end in a recess 6 in the guard arm and in the recess 7 in the knuckle 2 at the other. Lugs 14 at rightangles to the bar bear against the knuckle 2 above and below the recess 7 and take part of the pulling strain of the chain 9. A safety chain 15 secures the bar 4 to the coupler head.
