Abstract
211,470. National Malleable & Steel Castings Co., (Assignees of Willison, J.). Feb. 16, 1923, [Convention date]. Couplings, automatic.-In an automatic coupling having rigid jaws in the vertical plane disposed on opposite sides of its longitudinal centre line, each jaw being provided with a buffing face and a pulling face, a guiding face intermediate the buffing faces is arranged at a greater angle to the transverse axis of the coupler than the buffing faces, and slopes gradually into one of the buffing faces. The intermediate face a, b, c of the coupling head between the buffing jaw 5 and the gathering jaw 4 is arranged at varying angles, approximately 23, 30, and 47 respectively to the transverse axis of the coupler, to facilitate. the transverse movement of one coupling head relatively to the other, on contact.
