Wheel stops comprise a bodv a extending along the tread of the rail b and having fixed and movable jaws h, m engaging under the rail head, the jaw m being secured in position and the stop then tightened on the rail by driving a transverse wedge s between a lug q on the stop and the rail. The front of the stop is shaped at f to engage a wheel and has a part c engaging the rail tread and provided with lugs d in contact with the sides of the rail head. The jaw m is pivoted on a pin n carried by lugs l and is secured by a pin t passed through these lugs.
