Sleepers integral with chairs; chairs with separate jaws; chairs.-A sleeper 1 has at each end an integral chair 2 comprising a fixed jaw 3 and a moving jaw 9 which has a tail portion 8 in engagement with the ground. The jaw 9 is mounted between lugs 7 by means of a separate pivot pin 11, or by pins integral with the jaw 9 and engaging recesses in the lugs 7. The chair base may have a rib 15 to engage the groove of a bridge rail 6.
