Abstract

238,839. Jensen, C. A., (Buckeye Steel Castings Co.). July 28, 1924. Couplings, automatic, convertible to non-automatic.-A tranisition car coupling device comprises a bail 4 having an open hook portion 8 on one of its arms to engage a trunnion 2 on one side of an automatic coupler 1 and an eye 9 on its other arm to engage a hook 3 on the other side of of the coupler, the bail being bent at an angle 7, situated on the guard-arm side of the centre line of the coupler, to receive the link 10 of the chain coupling. The coupling head is disconnected from the draw-bar to enable the bail to engage the trunnion 2 and hook 3, and the top of the coupling head is provided with projections 13, 13<a> to secure the link 10 of the coupling chain in an out of use position when automatic coupling of the vehicles is desired.
